Genocide of Tamils in the north

The so called “Co-Chairs” met in New York to discuss the `situation in Sri Lanka’: INGOs, so called `peace’ and `humanitarian’ NGOs; and loquacious foreign Ambassadors, wax eloquent about our internal affairs; but none of them has yet uttered even a murmur about the genocide of the Tamils of the North by the LTTE. Their deafening silence on this most horrendous of crimes is clearly conclusive evidence of their utter lack of bona fides.The Daily Mirror of the September 25, quoting the UN spokesman Gordon Weiss and the Inter Agency Standing Committee Country Team, reports that the LTTE has refused `travel passes’ to over 500 “local humanitarian workers” including a few dozen UN staff to vacate “the LTTE areas (sic) and enter Government controlled areas”.When this is the plight of even UN, INGO and NGO staff members enjoying the patronage of their employers, the plight of the `ordinary’ Tamil denizens of the Wanni must necessarily be much worse.The fighting in the Wanni, particularly in the Killinochchi and Mullaitivu areas, will necessarily intensify as a result of the obduracy of the LTTE in seeking to preserve their usurped power in those areas and refusing to surrender, despite the trail of death and destruction that has followed and will follow in the wake of the fighting necessitated by their own conduct.Why then does the LTTE forcibly keep those Tamils who wish to move, whether permanently or temporarily to the safety of areas controlled by the Government? Is not the right to choose one’s place of residence part and parcel of each individual’s right of self-determination (apart from being a fundamental right) about which the LTTE, their lackeys in the TNA, the INGOs, NGOs and other so called `intellectuals’ and `think tanks’ wax eloquent.Clearly, the reason for so `imprisoning’ these helpless Tamil civilians because they were born Tamils, is to knowingly send them to their deaths by forcibly using them as `cannon fodder’ in the on-going fighting necessitated by their own obduracy and cupidity, as well as by using them as `human shields’ to take upon themselves the bombs, rockets, artillery shells and bullets meant for the LTTE so as to save their own skins and shed `crocodile tears’ over the civilian casualties that resulted from their own conduct.This is but the last in a long chain of events in which the LTTE knowingly and intentionally caused the deaths of thousands of citizens of all ages because they happened to be Tamils.Till 1978 when they murdered Chief Inspector Bastianpillai and his team including a Sinhalese Police Constable Driver Siriwardene at Madhu, they murdered only Tamils, either because they joined the Police or supported the Government in power in the exercise of their right of self determination.Thereafter, they murdered Tamils who would not become their lackeys as the TNA has done.Thereafter they kidnapped and abducted Tamil children, including some who had not even reached puberty, to use as cannon fodder in their terrorist cadres and continue to do so. Simultaneously with these vile acts, they sent and continue to send ever increasing numbers of Tamil girls and young Tamil ladies to the front lines to face the bullets of the armed forces while their `hard-core’ members including Prabhakaran remain in the comparative safety of their well fortified bunkers far from the fighting, reminiscent of the `Duke of Plaza Toro’ (in Gilbert and Sullivan’s `Gondoliers’) “who led his regiment from behind, he found it less exciting”.When small Tamil children, Tamil youth, Tamil girls and young Tamil ladies of child bearing age are sent to early deaths by the LTTE, what will become of the continuance of the Tamil race? When Tamil girls and young Tamil ladies are sent to early deaths, who will there be to give birth to Tamil children?Thus, Prabhakaran, in his unquenchable thirst for power is steadily and speedily committing genocide of the Tamil race in the North. There is no use in the so called “Co-Chairs”, World Leaders, Ambassadors, INGOs, NGOs, Clergymen, Intellectuals and those who think they are Intellectuals, discussing the `situation in Sri Lanka’, uttering a host of platitudes or threatening to violate the human rights of poor garment workers by depriving the Country of the GSP + facility, while Prabhakaran is sounding the death knell of the Tamil race in the North. The priority is to stop Prabhakaran and his minions from destroying, in its entirety, the Tamil race in the North, and that can be achieved only by their deaths. That then is the `end’ which all must strive to achieve. After that, the “Co-Chairs” etc. can go back to their `parlour games’ of discussing the `situation in Sri Lanka’ and uttering platitudes to their hearts’ content.
